The Desert Hills Trailhead is one of three that comprise the Phoenix Parks and Recreation Sonoran Preserve. Each of the three trailheads has numerous named and well-marked trails that, combined, total some 36 miles of hiking, biking and esquestrian enjoyment.

This page of photos was taken on the Ocotillo and Sidewinder trails that begin at the Desert Hills Trailhead. A group of five of us walked a short but gradual uphill 3.5 miles this warm, sunny February day.

We were told the wildflowers were just beginning to blossom, but so were the snakes. We were watchful for both. We saw small patches of beautiful orange and yellow daisy-like flowers...and no snakes.
